Selvon wins 'Tiger' 400

Trinidad and Tobago's Kai Selvon struck gold in the women's 400 metres event, at the Tiger Track Classic, in Alabama, last weekend. The Auburn University student clocked 54 seconds flat.

Marc Burns produced a 10.35 seconds run to seize silver in the men's 100m dash. Middle Tennessee State University's Kendall Bacchus was 41st overall in 11.09.

Robert Collingwood threw 17.10 metres to finish second in the men's shot put. His twin brother and University of Southern Mississippi teammate, Richard Collingwood was fourth with a 16.62m effort. Richard also competed in the discus, finishing fourth with a 48.38m effort.

In the women's 100m hurdles, Josanne Lucas (13.57), Aleesha Barber (13.64) and Auburn's Dannielle Davis (14.50) were third, fourth and 17th, respectively.

Barber finished 12th overall in the 200m in 24.29 seconds and 17th in the 100m in 12.11. And Darrel Brown clocked 22.54 seconds for 57th spot in the men's 200m.

At the Louisiana State University (LSU) Invitational, LSU sprinter Semoy Hackett topped the women's 100m field in 11.39 seconds.

Another T&T/LSU athlete, Shermund Allsop was second in the men's 100m in a wind-assisted 10.43 seconds. In the 200m, Allsop was fifth in 21.17.

Mississippi State University senior Emanuel Mayers clocked 50.32 seconds to snap up silver in the men's 400m hurdles.

In the men's long jump, LSU's Kyron Blaise (7.48m) and Texas Tech University's Dellon Williams (6.51m) were fourth and 18th, respectively. University of Iowa student, Carisa Leacock was sixth in the women's long jump with a 5.81m leap. LSU's Ade Alleyne-Forte finished seventh in the men's 400m in 46.56 seconds. And in the men's triple jump, Williams (13.83m) was 12th.

At the Tennessee Challenge, Annie Alexander won the women's shot put with a 16.61 metres throw. The University of Tennessee student also competed in the discus, finishing second with a 55.27m effort. In the men's 100m dash, Tennessee's Jamol James was third in 10.40 seconds.

At the Don Kirby Invitational, in New Mexico, Jarrin Solomon grabbed men's 400m gold in 45.92 seconds. University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) student, Aeisha McDavid finished ninth in the women's triple jump (11.47m) and 10th in the 100m hurdles (14.50 seconds). In the men's 200m, UTEP's Kyron Joseph (21.97) and Wichita State University's Aaron Leung Woo-Gabriel (22.51) were 15th and 24th, respectively. And in the 100m, Leung Woo-Gabriel finished 17th overall in 11.02 seconds.

At the KJCAA vs ICCAC Challenge, in Kansas, Reyare Thomas captured the women's sprint double. The Iowa Central Community College student clocked a wind-assisted 11.32 seconds in the 100m and a windy 23.37 in the 200m.

Another T&T/Iowa Central athlete, Dan-Neil Telesford won the men's 400m in 48.18 seconds. He was sixth in the 200m in a windy 20.95.

At the Tommy "Tiny" Lister Classic, in California, Melissa De Leon emerged victorious in the women's 800m in two minutes, 07.33 seconds. Magnolia Howell clocked 11.50 seconds to cop third spot in the women's 100m.

Alena Brooks got home in 54.20 seconds to strike gold in the women's 400m, at the Hamline Invitational, in Minnesota.

Michelle-Lee Ahye copped second spot in the women's 200m, at the Texas State Invitational. The T&T sprinter clocked a wind-aided 23.48 seconds. Abilene Christian University athlete, Karla Hope was seventh in the women's 800m in 2:16.93. Another Abilene Christian student, Osei Alleyne-Forte finished ninth in the men's 400m in 48.67.

At the Pepsi Team Invitational, in Oregon, Wayne Davis II finished second in the men's 110m hurdles in a wind-aided 13.70 seconds. In the 100m dash, the Texas A&M University student was ninth overall in 10.81.

At the Florida Relays, Emmanuel Stewart finished second in the men's discus with a 51.50m throw. The Morgan State University student also competed in the javelin, finishing 12th with a 57.49m effort.

University of Georgia student, Hilenn James bagged women's invitational discus bronze with a 51.70m effort. In the invitational shot put event, James threw 15.79m to cop fifth spot.

Jacksonville University's Akeela Bravo was sixth in the women's hammer throw with a 52.81m effort. And in the discus, she produced a 42.31m effort to finish 15th.

McNeese State University's Ashlee Smith threw 13.74m for 10th spot in the women's shot put.

Afiya Walker clocked 54.58 seconds for 28th spot in the women's 400m. And University of Florida student, Jovon Toppin was 52nd in the men's 400m in 48.66.

At the Marquette vs Milwaukee Dual Meet, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student Durell Busby copped second spot in the men's javelin with a 52.31m throw.

Shawna Fermin bagged bronze in the women's 400m, at the Stanford Invitational, in California. The Washington State University student clocked 54.18 seconds. In section two of the women's 10,000m, Wichita State's Scarla Nero was 33rd in 35:07.18.
