Lendore leads the world

Trinidad and Tobago’s Deon Lendore produced a world-leading time in the indoor men’s 400 metres event, in Texas, USA, yesterday.

Lendore, a student at Texas A&M University, topped the field in an impressive 45.74 seconds. Another T&T/Texas A&M athlete, Carlyle Roudette was second in 46.58.

Two other T&T/Texas A&M athletes tasted victory. Wayne Davis II won the men’s 60m hurdles in 7.75 seconds, while Janeil Bellille secured the women’s 400m title in 53.58.

At the Sainsbury’s International Meet in Glasgow, Scotland, Caribbean athletes competed for a Combined Commonwealth Team against hosts Scotland, Great Britain and the United States.

In the men’s 400m, Bahamian Chris Brown was victorious in 45.93 seconds, beating Great Britain’s Nigel Levine (46.31) and Jamie Bowie of Scotland (46.65) into second and third, respectively. Kittitian Kim Collims won the men’s 150m in 15.84 seconds, ahead of James Ellington (15.91) of Great Britain.
