Lalonde Gordon produced a blinder at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational indoor meet, in Boston, USA, on Saturday.

The Trinidad and Tobago quarter-miler earned gold in the men’s 400 metres in 45.17 seconds to grab the top spot on the 2014 world indoor performance list from his national teammate Deon Lendore (45.47).

Gordon is now number 11 on the all-time indoor list, one spot behind Lendore, the national record holder at 45.15.

Gordon was also on fire in the 200m. The 2012 Olympic Games 400m bronze medallist raced to victory in 20.70 seconds. With that run, Gordon moved into joint-fifth on the 2014 world indoor list, alongside American Prezel Hardy.

Lendore, who clocked 20.68 in Texas on Saturday, is joint-first on the performance list, with American Wallace Spearmon, Jamaican Jermaine Brown and Briton Chris Clarke.

Andre Marcano finished just outside the top three in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational men’s 60m final. The T&T sprinter was fourth in 6.85 seconds. In the preliminary round, Marcano was fifth fastest in 6.92, while Adrian Crichlow finished 10th in 6.95 and did not qualify for the final.

Jarrin Solomon led a one-two finish for T&T at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, in Boston.

Solomon topped the men’s 500 metres field in one minute, 01.84 seconds, getting to the line just ahead of Renny Quow. The 2009 World Championship 400m bronze medallist clocked 1:01.90 to secure second spot, forcing American Calvin Smith to settle for third in 1:03.78.

Solomon’s clocking—in his first-ever 500m race—was a new meet record.

At the Vince Brown Invitational, in Virginia, Ayanna Alexander struck gold in the women’s triple jump with a 13.17 metres effort.

Iowa Central Community College’s Jessica James returned a time of one minute, 32.31 seconds to seize silver in the women’s 600m, at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, in Nebraska.

In the women’s 400m, James and Auburn University’s Gabriela Cumberbatch were 13th and 29th, respectively, clocking 56.61 seconds and 58.05.

Kashef Daniel finished fifth in the men’s high jump. The Arkansas State University student cleared the bar at 2.10m.

University of Iowa athlete Carisa Leacock produced a 5.82m leap for sixth spot in the women’s long jump. In the triple jump, she was 10th with an 11.83m effort.

And at the Vulcan Invitational, in Alabama, Marc Burns finished fifth in the men’s 60m final in 6.87 seconds. The veteran T&T sprinter had clocked 6.80 in the preliminary round.
