President of the Trinidad and Tobago Commonwealth Games Association ( TTCGA), Brian Lewis, has expressed his gratitude to the many persons and organisations which made the Queen’s Baton Relay in TT a success.

Lewis, who is also head of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee, hailed the unique Relay participation of Her Excellency Reema Carmona. Additionally, President Anthony Carmona sent a strong message that TT remains committed to the ideals and values of the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth Games and the role that sport plays.

According to Lewis, the Acting Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier General Anthony Phillip- Spencer, also pitched in his support when he ran a leg, as did Arthur Snell, the British High Commissioner.

The overwhelming support the Queen’s Baton Relay received attracted the attention of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

Lewis noted that the Relay sparked national interest and pride, uniting people behind the Commonwealth Games and Team TT, having qualified for the Commonwealth Games 2014. The XX Commonwealth Games begins on July 23 and concludes August 3 in Glasgow, Scotland.
