Central Games deemed a success

THE SPORT Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SPORTT)-sponsored Port-of-Spain and Environs Education District Central Games was dominated by Roman Catholic Schools with Sacred Heart Girls RC School and Newtown Girls RC School winning the Championship Titles in the Central A and B Zones.

In the Boys category, Rosary Boys upstaged favourites Sacred Heart Boys RC and Richmond Street Boys Anglican while Mucurapo Boys RC stopped the winning streak of champions St Agnes Anglican School.

In a very competitive March Past Sacred Heart Girls RC were adjudged winners of the West A Zones while perennial champions Mucurapo Boys RC repeated their winning performance. Mucurapo Boys RC went on to represent Port-of-Spain and Environs Education District at the 2013 National Games.

On the track young Janika Jordan and Jelania Hutchinson of St Agnes stood out like beacons.

In the Under-11 category, talent was seen with Karissa Kirton (Newtown Girls RC) and Carlissa Harry (Sacred Heart RC). Not to be outdone, Jovan Westfield (Sacred Heart Boys RC) was unbeaten in his three events.

Good performances were seen from Destiny Taylor (St Agnes), Jada Duprey (Sacred Heart), Jordan Pope (Richmond Street), Shakeem McKay (Newtown Boys) and Jamali Lynch (Rosary Boys RC School).

The standout performance in the Under-15 category came from Natalia Ryan of Newtown Girls RC who raced unbeaten from 100 metres to 400 metres.
