Alexander lands a double

Annie Alexander struck double gold at the Shamrock Invitational in South Carolina, USA, on the weekend.

The Trinidad and Tobago field athlete won the women’s discus with a 53.63 metres effort, and topped the shot put field with a 17.15m throw.

Another T&T athlete, Coppin State University’s Deandra Daniel captured the women’s high jump title. She cleared the bar at 1.75m. And in the long jump, Daniel produced a 5.25m leap to finish 11th.

At the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Springtime meet in Texas, Elton Walcott grabbed men’s triple jump gold with a wind-assisted 15.60m effort. The South Plains College student also competed in the long jump, finishing sixth with a windy 6.80m leap.

Another T&T/South Plains athlete, Jereem Richards clocked a wind-aided 20.68 seconds to finish second in the men’s 200m.

Shun-Shauna Mason bagged women’s 100m bronze in 11.75 seconds, while her South Plains teammate Domonique Williams finished fourth in the women’s 200m in 24.22. Western Texas College’s Marissa Gale (25.20) was 17th overall in the 200.

UTEP’s Aeisha McDavid was fourth in the women’s triple jump with a windy 11.59m effort. In the 100m hurdles, McDavid finished fifth in 14.02 seconds—also wind-assisted.

And Gale clocked 57.06 for eighth spot in the women’s 400m.

At the War Hawk Classic, in Texas, Abilene Christian University student Reyare Thomas won the women’s 100m dash in a wind-aided 11.35 seconds.

Her schoolmate, Osei Alleyne-Forte was seventh in the men’s 400m in 49.81.

Durell Busby emerged victorious in the men’s 110m hurdles, at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Cougar Classic, in Illinois. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student got to the line in a windy 14.40 seconds.

In Mississippi, Arkansas State University senior Kashef Daniel finished second in the Ole Miss Open men’s high jump with a 2.10m clearance.

At the Wake Forest Open, in North Carolina, Morgan State University’s Jeanelle Ovid cleared the bar at 1.67m to secure silver in the women’s invitational high jump. Ovid was 39th overall in the 100m dash in 13.03 seconds.

Another T&T/Morgan State athlete, Emmanuel Stewart earned men’s discus bronze with a 51.99m effort. In the javelin, he threw 56.59m to finish 12th.

Robert Collingwood captured fifth spot in the men’s shot put, at the John Mitchell Alabama Relays, in Alabama. He threw the iron ball 17.71m, while his twin brother and University of Southern Mississippi teammate, Richard Collingwood produced a 16.34m effort to finish 11th.

Richard was also 11th in the discus with a 48.95m throw.
