Jones, Nero for Borough Day 15K

Richard Jones and Tonya Nero are expected to defend their male and female crowns respectively at the Point Fortin Borough Day 15 km Run on Sunday from 6 am.

The event, hosted by the Point Fortin Road Runners Club, is part of the Point Fortin Borough Day celebrations. There are eight categories in the 15 km run, including the Open, Under-20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and the 70 plus age group. This year, the runners will be passing through the villages of Point Fortin, including Egypt, New Village and Warden Road.

There will also be a 7.5 km fun walk/run, which caters for running and fitness enthusiasts. Prizes for the top school teams, Point Fortin residents, Point Fortin Borough Corporation employees and Atlantic LNG employees are up for grabs in this event.

Over $30,000 in cash, prizes and trophies are at stake. The top athletes to complete the race in both categories will walk away with medals. Raymond Chin Assang and Dream will be providing race day timing and assistance.

Sponsors of the event include Point Fortin Road Runners Club, the Point Fortin Borough Corporation, Atlantic LNG and Tang Hap’s Supermarket.
