Thompson, Borel win with meet records

Trinidad and Tobago athletes, Richard "Torpedo" Thompson and Cleopatra Borel were in fine form at the International Twilight Games, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, today.

Thompson won the men's 100 metres dash in 10.10 seconds--a new meet record.

There was a meet record too for Borel. She threw the iron ball 18.83 metres for victory in the women's shot put.

Stewart leads in shot put

The International Twilight Games is under way. First up at the Hasely Crawford Stadium here in Port of Spain, Trinidad is the men's shot put.

After the first round, Hezekiel Romeo was in front with a 16.60 metres throw.

National record holder Akeem Stewart fouled his first round effort, but in the second round Stewart landed the iron ball 17.98 metres to claim the lead.
