Fast times for Ahye, Gordon in Guadeloupe

TRINIDAD and Tobago pair of Michelle Lee Ahye and Lalonde Gordon along with Levern Spencer of St Lucia posted Caribbean’s only victories at Saturday’s 10th jubilee of Meeting International Region Guadeloupe.

Ahye’s time of 11.17 seconds in the French territory of Guadeloupe got the better of American Tori Bowie 11.26 and Jamaican Schillonie Calvert 11.44. The wind reading was negative 1.8 m/s

Olympic bronze medallist Lalonde Gordon clocked 44.91 in the 400m to beat Bahamas relay olympic winners Ramon Miller 45.21, Chris Brown 45.23 (what is World masters record for category 35+) and Demetrius Pinder 45.59.

Impressive long jump mark by US Jeff Henderson 8.25 metres (+0.9m/s) ahead of Tyron Stewart windy 8.20m (+2.4m/s), Mike Hartford 8.12m (+1.2) and Briton JJ Jegede legal 8.03 (+0.3).

In the 200m, Maurice Mitchell 20.40secs (-0.1) won ahead of Briton James Ellington 20.57 and St. Kitts and Nevis’ Antoine Adams 20.68.

Over the sprint hurdles, Dominic Berger 13.48 (-0.5m/s) to beat French talent Wilhelm Belocian 13.78 at senior hurdles just edging and former World champion Ladji Doucoure 13.79.

On the women side, American Dawn Harper, who won in Cayman Invitational (12.81) was again impressive here in Guadeloupe with 12.77 (-0.8) over compatriots Kristi Castlin 12.84 and Vashti Thomas 13.06.

American Jo Atkins won the 400m in 51.19 ahead of Jamaican Christine Day 51.42 and Kineke Alexander of St Vincent/Grenadines 51.61.

Levern Spencer of St Lucia beat on count back American Chaunte Lowe in high jump, both clearing 1.91m. Abigail Ibozuru of Britain won the long jump 6.64 (+2.6).
