‘Hasely Crawford’ to host ‘Manny Ramjohn’

The 2014 edition of the Manny Ramjohn Memorial Games takes place this afternoon at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain. Proceedings begin with qualifying heats being contested from 9 a.m. with all finals taking place in the afternoon beginning from 3 p.m.

This year the spotlight will be on some of Trinidad and Tobago’s (T&T) promising, young athletes such as Asa Guevara and Nathan Farinha, two members of T&T’s Boys U-20 4 x 400m relay team that won gold at the 2014 Carifta Games in Martinique.

In competition among the ladies, Romona Modeste, a member of the national record breaking female 4 x 400m relay team in 2013, will be competitng in the individual 400m event while Cougars Athletic Club 100m hurdles standout, Akila Mc Shine, will face the starter in the women’s 100 metres event.

Some of the country’s senior athletes will also be on show as they, along with their junior counterparts, will be aiming at achieving the qualifying standards for upcoming events such as the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Junior Championships, World Junior Championships, CAC Games and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
