Johnson claims OWTU Butler 20K

KEVIN Johnson sprinted to victory in yesterday’s OWTU Butler Classic 20K Road Race in Fyzabad.

Johnson, who lined up against a number of top runners, among whom included veteran Vincentian Pamenos Ballantyne and Curtis Cox, stormed past the finish line first for the gold medal and bragging rights in front a much appreciative crowd.

Ballantyne, a seven-time winner of the Clico International Marathon, secured the runner-up spot while Lionel Dandrade was third.

Another veteran in the field Errol “Bald Head” Williams battled home for the fourth place finish.

Meanwhile among the women Jinelle Nedd disposed of an equally challenging field for first and the gold medal. She led from start to finish in the race, being followed in second position by her arch rival in local racing Christine Regis.

Among the 5 kilometre road race which started earlier, it was Shania Francis who cruised to victory. She finish ahead of newcomer Jenna Gomes in second.
