Thompson, Gordon earn silver

Trinidad and Tobago’s Richard Thompson was second behind American Tyson Gay despite cold and rainy conditions in the Men’s 100m final at the Montreuil Pro Tour meet in France on Tuesday.

Gay won the race in a very good 10.04 seconds with Thompson second in 10.16 into a negative wind of 0.5m/s.

Meanwhile, reigning World Champion Jehue Gordon also missed out on gold in the Men’s 400m hurdles at Istvan Gyulai Memorial meet, in Budapest, Hungary on Tuesday. Gordon was second in a time of 49.89 seconds to seize silver, same time as the winner Dai Green of Great Britain. Emir Bekric of Serbia settled for the bronze in 50.04.

Keston Bledman finished fifth in the Istvan Gyulai Memorial Men’s 100m in 10.54 seconds. St Kitts and Nevis’ Kim Collins won that race in 10.31 while Femi Ogunode was forced to settle for second spot in 10.35.

Harry Aikines-Aryeetey of Great Britain (10.41) and Akani Simbini of South Africa (10.50) were third and fourth respectively.

TT quarter-miler Jarrin Solomon produced a 46.03 seconds run to finish sixth in the Men’s 400m won by Bahamian Chris Brown in 45.21 while Briton Micheal Bingham (45.49) finished second and American Torrin Lawrence (45.65) third.

At the Edmonton International Track Classic, held on Sunday at Foote Field, Alberta, Canada.

TT’s Renny Quow clocked 45.67 and Jamaican Allodin Fothergill 46.00 to place 4th and 6th respectively. Americans LaShawn Merritt 44.30 and Josh Mance 45.02 were the top two while Luguelin Santos of Dominican Republic ended 3rd in 45.04.
