Trinidad Express :: 06.10.2014

The National Association of Athletics Administrations of Trinidad and Tobago (NAAATT) will host an International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Level 3 Coaches Education and Certification System (CECS) Sprints and Hurdles course, starting today and ending on October 19.

In a press release, the NAAATT explained: “Owing to the large number of active level 2 sprints and hurdles coaches in Trinidad and Tobago who have qualified for the next level, the NAAATT were able to influence the Member Services Department of the IAAF through the Regional Development Centre (RDC) that such a programme was required by our association.”

The course facilitators are IAAF lecturers Ian Carter (T&T) and Gideon Labban (St. Vincent & the Grenadines).

The NAAATT release stated: “On completion of the programme, coaches will be examined and will be expected to be able to identify and coach the basic competition model for sprints and hurdles. The coaches will also be expected to plan and implement a series of appropriate training sessions within the context of an annual training plan. These plans should lead to the achievement of potential, elite performance and competitive results.”
