Nero retains TTARP 5k crown

TONYA NERO, one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most consistent long-distance runners, retained the women’s crown while Lionel Dandrade took the men’s equivalent at Saturday’s TTARP (Trinidad and Tobago Association for Retired Persons) 5k event.

The race began and ended at #167 Belmont Circular Road, with the runners making a lap of the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain.

Nero covered the distance in 18 minutes and 17 seconds, with Thais Gutierrez second in 19 minutes 42 seconds and Donicia Antoine third in 22 minutes 13 seconds.

Overall, Dandrade triumphed in a time of 15 minutes and 34 seconds, ahead of Sherwyn Stapleton (15 minutes 50 seconds) and Shane Barran (16 minutes four seconds).
