Richards grateful for NCAA silver, T&T record

Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 13.03.2017

Jereem Richards was a grateful man following his record-breaking run at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Texas, USA, late on Saturday.

"So thankful to my Lord for this blessing," Richards said in a social media post, yesterday. "Also thankful that indoor season is over...anything is possible with Jesus Christ!!!!!"

Richards stopped the clocked at 20.31 seconds to finish first in his section and second overall in the men's 200 metres finals. The clocking is a new Trinidad and Tobago indoor record, bettering the 20.35 seconds standard established by Ato Boldon in 1997. With the run, Richards jumped into second spot on the all-time Central American and Caribbean (CAC) performance list and joint-12th, with American Coby Miller, on the all-time world list.
