St Fort, Horsford in Carifta 51

Khalifa St Fort heads a team of 51 athletes selected to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the April 15-17 Carifta Games in Curacao. The 2016 IAAF World U20 Championship women's 100 metres bronze medallist will defend her Carifta Games girls' under-20 100m title, and is also expected to bid for the 200m crown.

St Fort and Tyra Gittens are the two US-based athletes on the T&T team. Gittens is the national junior record holder in the heptathlon with 5,337 points, and will be among the favourites in the girls' open heptathlon at Carifta 2017. She is also listed for action in the girls' under-20 long jump.

Tyriq Horsford is among seven Zenith (Tobago) athletes on the team. Seventeen-year-old Horsford is the reigning Carifta Games boys' under-18 javelin champion, and will chase a hat-trick of titles in Curacao.

Abilene Wildcats have the most representatives on the T&T team. Nine athletes from the Arima-based club have been chosen for national duty, including boys' under-20 quartermiler Jacob St Clair and under-18 sprinters Avindale Smith and Adell Colthrust.

A Memphis Pioneers quintet, including under-18 standouts Rae-Anne Serville and Ianna Roach, will also make the trip to Curacao on Easter weekend.
