Republic dominates ‘Savannah’ run

Trinidad Express :: 10.04.2017

REPUBLIC BANK employee Jean-Paul Drakes will be the one to beat in the final two running/walking events of the 26th-annual Carifin Games fitness series, after taking the opening One Lap Savannah Run in Port of Spain last week.

Drakes produced a blistering sub 15-minute effort to upset defending champion Abijah Phillip and will start among the favourites for the Green Mile and the Chancellor Challenge, later this month.

The series, created specifically for workers in the financial sector, has grown tremendously over the years. On Wednesday, over 1,000 men and women took part in the most popular event — a one-lap race around the Queen's Park Savannah, starting and ending outside the TGI Fridays restaurant.
