Five-gold T&T

Veteran statistician picks St Fort for sprint double

Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 13.04.2017

Five gold medals, four silver and nine bronze. That's the prediction for Team Trinidad and Tobago at the 2017 Carifta Games from veteran statistician Rey O'Neal.

A former British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee (BVIOC) president and respected track and field statistician, O'Neal has compiled his medal picks for all events at this weekend's regional junior meet. He expects Khalifa St Fort to lead the way for T&T with two gold medals.

St Fort is the reigning champion in the Girls Under-20 100 metres dash, and O'Neal has predicted she will make a successful defence of her title. He has also tipped the Florida-based track star for gold in the 200m event.

Another US-based T&T athlete, Tyra Gittens, is also on O'Neal's golden list. Gittens will be representing T&T for the very first time at Carifta 2017, and is the favourite for the Girls Open heptathlon.
