Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 05.07.2017

Khemani Roberts finished 10th in the senior women's heptathlon at the Pan American Combined Events Cup in Ottawa, Canada, yesterday. Roberts completed the seven-discipline event with 5,090 points. Her Trinidad and Tobago teammate, Kechelle Douglas totalled 4,367 for 16th spot.

In a close finish, Canada's Nicole Oudenaarden earned 6,000 points to grab gold ahead of American Sami Spenner, the silver medallist with 5,986. Canadian Rachael McIntosh (5,783) bagged bronze.

Spenner finished first in section two and second overall in the final discipline, the 800 metres, in two minutes, 11.42 seconds. Though the clocking was fast, it was not fast enough for Spenner to edge past Oudenaarden in the race for gold.
