St Fort successfully defends Pan Am Junior title

KHALIFA St Fort of Trinidad and Tobago defended her women's 100-metre title at the 2017 Pan American Junior Championships in Peru, yesterday.

St Fort was a comfortable winner in 11.32 seconds, finishing ahead of the American duo of Rebekah Smith in 11.55 and Symore Mason in 11.62. 

Jalen Purcell of TT finished fifth in 10.68 in the boys 100m final. 

Winning the event was American Tarrik Junior Brock in 10.45, while the Brazilian pair of Paulo A Camilo de Oliveira (10.46) and Felipe Bardi dos Santos (10.47) were second and third respectively. 

Barbadian Jaquone Hoyte missed a medal as he was fourth in 10.60. 

Also competing in finals for TT yesterday were Judah Taylor and Konnel Jacob. Taylor finished sixth in the boys 400m in 47.72, while Jacob was ninth in the boys discus with a top throw of 51.28m. 

The championships continue today and concludes tomorrow.
