Hurdler Walters golden in USA

Trinidad and Tobago's Ruebin Walters was the class of the field in the Bob Pollock Invitational men's 60 metres hurdles in South Carolina, USA, last Saturday. The University of Alabama senior won the final in 7.70 seconds, after clocking 7.76 in the preliminaries.

Alabama field athlete Portious Warren threw 15.49 metres to secure silver in the women's shot put. Another T&T/Alabama athlete, Mauricia Prieto, finished ninth overall in the women's 200m in 24.09 seconds. Reyare Thomas was 11th in 24.23. And in the 60m dash, Thomas clocked 7.56 for 14th spot.

At the Pittsburg State Invitational in Kansas, Louisiana Tech University student Elia Nero clocked one minute, 23.55 seconds on an oversized track to strike gold in the women's 600 yards race.
