Lewis golden at Boston

Aaron Lewis has been sensational thus far this season for Coppin State University, picking up another gold medal in the men's 60 metres hurdles on Saturday in the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White meet at the Boston University in the USA.

Lewis crossed in 7.95 seconds to win his third gold of the season after entering as the fastest qualifier in a time of 8.04. At previous a meet, the junior student/athlete finished first in 8.08 at the Terrapin Invitational (Jan 20). He was second in the event at the Penn State National (Jan 26-27), with a same 7.95-clocking.

His schoolmate Mark London, a senior, also competed at the meet in Boston and placed 26th in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:53.93.

Khemani Roberts, a former student of Coppin State, who now competes for Tennessee Tech tackled two events at the Meyo Invitational in Notre Dame, Indiana.

The junior was fifth in the women's high jump with her best mark measuring 1.69m and was 29th in the 60m hurdles in 9.10 seconds.

Cherisse Murray continues to prosper at Central Arizona winning another double gold, this time at the Jim Mielke Track and Field Invitational on Saturday as well.

The freshman showed her power in the women's shot put event, tossing the object 15.19m to take the top spot on the podium, returning sometime later after dominating the weight throw, reaching 14.63m for the win.

Murray won both events at the Puma Indoor Invitational & Multi on the weekend of January 26-27. Her winning throws were 15.92 in the shot put and 14.71 in the other. This followed up her victory in the shot put at the Pima Aztec Indoor Invitational with her best toss measuring 15.03m.

At the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational in Birmingham, Janiel Bellille secured a silver medal in the women's 400m timed finals. Bellille, running unattached, won section one in 55.92 to finish second overall.

At the Colorado Invitational, Micah Ballyntyne of Adams State competed in three events but did not place among the top finishers in any. The senior placed ninth in the men's 60m in 6.93, 10th in the 200m in 22.04 and 14th in the long jump with a 6.20m-mark.

Jada Barker also had a busy schedule on the weekend as the Bemidji State Sophomore faced the starter in three events as well. Her best finish was in the 200m where she picked up a bronze after crossing the line at 26.68. Barker just missed out on a medal in the 60m, placing fourth in 8.12 and she ran the first leg for her Bemidji State team in the 4x400m relay, and it placed fifth in 4:39.48.
