Cox completes Eastern 15K hat-trick

Curtis Cox captured his third Eastern Credit Union 15K title on the trot in St Joseph on Sunday. The veteran road runner completed the course in 50 minutes, 23 seconds.

Cox completed the hat-trick of victories in trying conditions.

"It rained for most of the race," the 50-year-old athlete told the Express.

"I am very happy to be on top of the podium."

Cox outclassed his younger rivals in the 15-kilometre event. Shurlan Williams, 25, finished second in 51:02, with third spot going to 41-year-old Richard Jones in 51:50.

Queen Njoki Chenge dominated the women's race, the Kenyan winning in 58:09. Chenge also had the distinction of a top-ten placing overall. She was 10th.
