Record-breaking Wright!

Gold too for Ahye, Bledman, Lendore, Walcott, Stewart

Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 24.06.2018

Andwuelle Wright jumped into the Trinidad and Tobago record books with a huge 8.23 metres leap on day one of the NGC/Sagicor NAAA National Open Track and Field Championships, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, yesterday.

The previous men's long jump standard of 8.14m was established by Wendell Williams way back in 1999. And Williams was on hand to witness Wright's feat. In fact, Williams was a big part of the process, steering the 20-year-old athlete to the T&T record, National Championship gold, and 13th spot on the 2018 world performance list.
