Murray first on show at World U-20

Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 09.07.2018

Talena Murray will be the first Trinidad and Tobago athlete on show at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland. The Zenith Tobago field athlete competes in group "B" in the women's javelin qualifying event, and will take her first throw at 3.20 this morning (T&T time).

Murray has a personal best of 50.60 metres, and would need a huge improvement to get up to the 53.50 automatic qualifying distance. The final takes place tomorrow. At 4.50 this morning, Timothy Frederick faces the starter in the first of six men's 100 metres qualifying heats. The T&T sprinter has been in fine form this season, clocking a personal best 10.40 seconds in May, at the Hampton International Games.
