T&T's John wins in Belgium

Deborah John was in winners' row at the Brussels Grand Prix track and field meet, in Belgium, on Sunday. The Trinidad and Tobago athlete topped the women's 100 metres hurdles field in 13.43 seconds, forcing Belgian Eline Berings to settle for silver in 13.47. Dutchwoman Eefje Boons clocked 13.55 to bag bronze.

John's best run this season came on June 10 at the Star Athletics Sprint Series meet in Florida, USA, where she clocked 13.22 seconds for fourth spot in a qualifying heat. In the final, the 27-year-old sprint hurdler finished fifth in 13.26.
