Today we catch up with two former national athletes turned entrepreneurs, who bring tremendous social capital to Trinidad and Tobago. Joel Pile and Zwede Hewitt. Alena Brooks: New 800m Record (2:01.81)

At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, Alena Brooks ran her 800m heat in 2:01.81 to set a new national record, almost half a second better than the 2:02.27 done in 2005 by Melissa de Leon. See article by Bernard Linley …

Jereem Richards Wins Gold @ Gold Coast

The Point Fortin native and pre-race favourite delivered in the 200m Final at the Commonwealth Games which had its fair share of controversy. Richards finished in a time of 20.12 seconds, the same time as Zharnel Hughes of England who initially won in a photo finish. Hughes was later disqualified for a lane infringement after an appeal from team TTO. Hughes then had his appeal rejected. Kyle Greaux was promoted to sixth in 20.63 seconds. See YouTube video ...

Athletics Sweep Trinidad and Tobago Sports Awards

Winning all six categories of the First Citizens Sports Foundation 2017 Awards was not an easy accomplishment!. Our sport had a clean sweep in both the senior and junior categories as well as Team of the year (4x400m men's). Also, the Jeffrey Stollmeyer Award which is presented to the National Governing Sporting Body that has outstandingly showcased while making significant improvements in its administration and towards the development of its athletes was won by our Association.
