Doldron viewing today at Tacarigua

A public viewing of Ken Doldron's body takes place this afternoon, between 2.30 and 3.30, at Belgrove's Funeral Home in Tacarigua. A wake for the former athletics boss will follow at the family home, 323 Penguin Crescent, Maloney.

Doldron will be cremated following a private service, tomorrow. The service

will be streamed on YouTube from 3 p.im. The public viewing was arranged to facilitate those wishing to pay their last respects.

Doldron, who served as president of the then National Amateur Athletics Association (NAAA) between 2001 and 2006, passed away in hospital on Sunday.

He was ailing. A career soldier, Doldron retired as a Warrant Officer 1 (WO1).

Doldron was NAAA president on the most recent occasion the Carifta Games was held in T&T, 2005. The 2005 edition also marked Tobago's first-ever hosting of the Games.

In a Facebook post earlier this week, Doldron's son, Sherwin Cox expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support since his father's death.

"Your posts, calls and texts reminded me that he touched the lives of so many people, especially in the military and sporting arena, and it helped comfort us knowing that he was highly respected and appreciated in his life. This mountain of a man was an influencer, a teacher a strict but caring father.

"The Raja's command on this earth has come to an end, and he is now ascended into the army of the Lord where he will continue to serve with the pride, distinction, passion and honour which he served with throughout his life."
