Machel Cedenio dominated the field in his 2020 season-opener in Georgia, USA, on Saturday. The Trinidad and Tobago quartermiler stopped the clock at 45.86 seconds for top spot in the American Track League 5 men's 400 metres event.

Cedenio was more than a second faster than his nearest rival, American

David Kendziera finishing second in 46.89. Cedenio's 45.86 clocking earned him 18th spot on the 2020 world outdoor performance list. Another T&T athlete, Deon Lendore is 10th with a 45.65 run. Jamaican Akeem Bloomfield is the global leader at 45.07.

At Monday's Star Athletics Sprint Showcase, in Florida, Keston Bledman clocked a season's best 10.30 seconds in the men's 100m finals. The T&T sprinter finished first in section three and eighth overall. Americans Trayvon Bromell, Justin Gatlin and Kenny Bednarek were first, second and third, respectively, clocking wind-aided times of 9.87, 10.02 and 10.02.

Bledman was ninth fastest in the qualifying round in 10.36. Bromell clocked 9.99 to lead all qualifiers into the finals. Bednarek was on fire in the 200m event, winning in a personal best and world-leading time of 19.80.

Emmanuel Callender had a busy weekend at Jamaica's National Stadium, in Kingston. The T&T sprinter ran three times at Saturday's Velocity Fest 4 meet. And on Sunday, he competed twice at the Velocity Fest 5 meet.

On Saturday, Callender finished third in the men's 200m in 21.66 seconds. In his first 100m outing, the veteran athlete was 12th overall in 10.81. He improved to 10.50 in his second century race, the clocking earning him ninth spot overall.

In his lone 100m outing on Sunday, Callender had to contend with a strong 5.0 metres per second headwind. The 36-year-old sprinter was third fastest on the day in 11.04 seconds. And in the 200, Callender clocked 21.47 to finish seventh overall.
