Carlene Haynes-Griffith was a former CARIFTA athlete who represented Trinidad and Tobago in 4 x 400m relay. Carlene received an athletic scholarship from St John's University in New York from where she graduated with a BSc in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. Her passion for Accounting would lead her to complete an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Detection.

In 2003, Mrs. Haynes-Griffith was elected as the Treasurer of the NAAA and served in that post for 15 years. During her tenure the NAAA has been able to provide audited accounts every year. This is an unprecedented accomplishment for any National Sporting Organization in Trinidad and Tobago.

Despite her busy schedule, Carlene served as National Team Manager on a few occasions.

A service was held for Carlene at Church of The Nazarene, Ari­ma on 17 September 2018.
