Trinidad and Tobago finished sixth in the men's 4x400 metres final at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, yesterday.

The T&T combination of Jacob St Clair, Dwight St Hillaire, Judah Taylor and Kashief King produced a three minutes, 08.28 seconds run, an improvement on their 3:08.91 clocking in Saturday's qualifying round. However, they were unable to challenge for a medal, the three podium spots going to United States, the winners in 3:02.39, Botswana (3:02.81) and Jamaica (3:04.83).

Japan (3:07.02) and Germany (3:08.13) were fourth and fifth, respectively, with India (3:09.14) finishing seventh. The Italians were disqualified.

The men's 4x4 final brought the curtain down on the global junior meet. The only podium success for T&T was Khalifa St Fort's third-place finish in the women's 100m final. The bronze earned the country joint-38th spot on the medal table, with Barbados, Belgium, Estonia, Grenada, British Virgin Islands, Morocco, Moldova, Sweden and Uganda.

United States topped the table with 11 gold medals, six silver and four bronze. Kenya (five gold, two silver, two bronze) finished second, with Ethiopia (four gold, two silver, four bronze), Cuba (three gold, two silver, zero bronze) and Jamaica (two gold, three silver, three bronze), third, fourth and fifth.

St Fort's bronze and the sixth-place finish in the men's 4x4 earned T&T a total of nine points, and joint-40th spot on the placing table, with Barbados, Morocco and Spain.

United States finished first with 213 points, almost doubling the total of 108 produced by second-placed Kenya. Ethiopia earned 101 points to finish third, ahead of Germany (80) and Jamaica (71).
