Success, Chinapoo repeat in Kelvin Nancoo Games

Success Roman Catholic (RC) School finished first and second in the East B girls and boys categories respectively when the 32nd edition of the Milo-sponsored Kelvin Nancoo Primary School East Games was held at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, on Wednesday.

Young athletes competed in running, walking and throwing events such as the javelin. In the end, Chinapoo Government reigned supreme in the East A Zone boys category amassing 91 points to earn the title. St Dominic's RC was a distant second ending with 54 points while Morvant New Government ended with 48 points, to be third.

In the East A Zone girls category, St Dominic's RC took first place with 103 points. Chinapoo Government was some way back in second on 54 points. Morvant New Government was third amassing 48 points. Morvant Anglican School was fourth with 47 points.

The East B Zone girls category was the most competitive of the day as the top teams were only separated by seven points. Success RC was the winner with 94 points while Eastern Girl's had to settle for second place with 87 points. Snatching third place with 50 points, was Nelson Street Girls' RC and Laventille Girls was fourth with 45 points.

Eastern Boys took the top spot in the East B Zone boys category with 104 points, Success RC finished second with 83 points and Bethlehem Boys RC ended third with 61 points.

Before the young athletes showed their talent on the track, schools participated in a colourful march past. Among the East A schools, Morvant Anglican took first place with 167 points, ahead of St Dominic's RC (173) and Chinapoo Government (166). Lower Morvant was third with 165.

In the East B march past competition, Eastern Girls were the winners with 153 in what can be described as a photo-finish for all three placings. Bethlehem Girls RC was narrowly beaten with on 152, with Bethlehem Boys RC, third just one point adrift.
