Bellille blazes at Texas Relays

Trinidad and Tobago's Janeil Bellille produced a superb run to strike gold in the university/college women's 400 metres hurdles final, at the Texas Relays, in Texas, USA, on Saturday.

The South Plains College student stopped the clock at 55.91 seconds to move into second spot on the 2012 world performance list.

The clocking is the second best of Bellille's career, behind her 55.80 PR (personal record).

Another T&T/South Plains athlete, Sparkle McKnight, copped third spot in 57.42 seconds.

In the qualifying round, Bellille clocked 57.61 and McKnight 58.22.

Kyron Blaise was the class of the university/college men's triple jump A field with a wind-assisted 16.32m effort. The Louisiana State University (LSU) athlete also had a legal jump of 16.25m.

McNeese State University's Ashlee Smith triumphed in the university/college women's discus B event. Her best throw was 50.68m. In the women's shot put B competition, Smith was 10th with a 14.00m effort.

Mikel Thomas clocked a personal best 13.48 seconds to pick up silver in the invitational men's 110m hurdles.

University of Southern Mississippi student Robert Collingwood earned silver in the university/college men's shot put B event with a 16.79m throw.

Semoy Hackett finished fourth in the university/college women's 100m final in a wind-aided 11.16 seconds. In the preliminaries, the LSU sprinter clocked a windy 11.24.

Michelle-Lee Ahye got to the line in a wind-assisted 11.26 seconds to cop fourth spot in the invitational women's 100m.

And Wayne Davis II was sixth in the university men's 110m hurdles in a windy 13.77 seconds. The Texas A&M University student had a windy 13.94 run in the qualifying round.

At the Double Dual Meet, in California, Annie Alexander was twice in winners' row.

The University of Tennessee student topped the women's shot put field with a 17.20m throw. And in the discus, Alexander produced a 53.29m effort to strike gold.

Tennessee sprinter Jamol James emerged victorious in the men's 100m dash. He got to the line in 10.53 seconds. In the 200m, James clocked 21.25 to seize silver.

Shawna Fermin won the women's 400m in 53.86 seconds. And in the 200m, the Washington State University student got home in 24.20 to bag bronze.

Hilenn James claimed the women's shot put and discus titles, at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, in Georgia. The University of Georgia student threw 15.84m in the shot put, and 48.90m in the discus.

Middle Tennessee State University athlete Kendall Bacchus finished 20th overall in the men's 200m in 22.29 seconds, and 27th in the 400m in 51.25.

At the Arkansas Spring Invitational, Iowa Central Community College sprinter Reyare Thomas won the women's 200m in a wind-aided 23.48 seconds. University of Minnesota senior, Nyoka Giles was 10th fastest in a windy 24.06.

Wichita State University's Samantha Shukla returned a time of four minutes, 36.93 seconds to finish fourth in the women's 1500m.

Iowa Central's Dan-Neil Telesford was eighth in the men's 400m in 47.92 seconds. Wichita State's Scarla Nero got home in 10:16.67 for 10th spot in the women's 3000m. And her teammate, Aaron Leung Woo-Gabriel was 16th in the men's 100m in a wind-assisted 10.99 seconds, and 25th in the 200m (22.56).

At the Toledo Collegiate Challenge, in Ohio, Kirlene Roberts bagged bronze in the women's 100m in 12.45 seconds. The Central Michigan University sprinter also competed in the 200m, finishing 10th overall in 26.24.

Akeela Bravo copped fourth spot in the women's hammer throw, at the University of North Florida Invitational.

The Jacksonville University athlete produced a 52.72m effort. Bravo finished sixth in the shot put (13.12m) and sixth in the discus (45.33m).

Auburn University's Dannielle Davis was 10th in the women's long jump with a 5.54m leap, and 20th in the 100m hurdles in 14.85 seconds.

At the Maryland Invitational, University of Maryland student, Shawn David finished fourth in the men's 400m in 49.49 seconds. Temple University freshman, Kiersten LaRoche was sixth in the women's 400m in 58.21, and eighth in the high jump with a 1.57m clearance.

Devery Robley copped fifth spot in the men's 800m, at the Enduro Classic, in Kansas. The Butler Community College runner got home in 1:57.59.

And at the Raleigh Relays, in North Carolina, Jameel Walcott was 14th fastest in the invitational men's 800m. The St Augustine's College student clocked 1:53.67.
