NAAAs need new PRO

Newsday :: 11.04.2013

The National Association of Athletic Administration (NAAA) may have to return to the internal polls to elect a new Public Relations Officer.

At the President’s Classic at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, over the weekend, Serrette revealed that the post may have to be filled once more since current PRO and national field athlete, Cleopatra Borel Brown is still actively involved in competing on the world circuit.

He stated that Borel is “more away than home and still wants to compete more than she thought she would have been competing even though she had moved back home (to Trinidad). We (NAAA) felt that having an athlete in the position would have done some justice to the position.” Serrette added that he expects the vacancy to be filled at this year’s annual general meeting and elections. He added, “We are working on having one or two persons fill the gap with respect to feeding information to the media.”

Serette’s comments came after reports circulated that Borel had resigned from the position earlier this year. Borel was elected the PRO last November following the resignation of Trevor James in July.

She is currently on a six-week training camp in Cuba with Olympic men’s javelin champion Keshorn Walcott.
