Horsford tops U-15 heptathlon at trials

TYRIQ HORSFORD topped the Boys Under-15 heptathlon last weekend, at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, at the NAAA CAC (Central American and Caribbean) Age Group Trials.

The trials only featured heptathlon and pentathlon, during the two-day event.

Horsford, of Zenith, accumulated 4,865 points, with his clubmate Frank Stanisclaus next with 4,623 and Tyrell Edwards of Toco Titans third with 4,523.

Also in the Boys Under-15 group were Daniel Hernandez of D’Abadie Progressive (4,233) Joseph Watson of D’Abadie (4,074), Aaron Caesar of Point Fortin New Jets (4,051), Teejay Ramcharan of Warriors (3,984), Joel Thomas of Zenith (3,929), Anson Moses of Tobago Falcons (3,585) and Josiah Samuel of Toco Tafac (3,566).

In the Girls Under-15 heptathlon, Aquilla St Louis of D’Abadie prevailed with 3,322 points, followed by Anya Akili of Zenith (3,255), Shaquana Scott of Zenith (3,232), Kerneka Waldron of Burnley (3,223), Brittney Thomas of D’Abadie (3,092), Schrese Trim of Tobago Jaguars (3,050), Delicia Thom of Toco Titans (2,860), Shania Sutherland of Oasics (2,851), Shantelle Licorish of Bishop Anstey High (2,714) and Asha James of Zenith (2,711).

Avindale Smith of D’Abadie was triumphant in the Boys Under-13 pentathlon, tallying 2,723 points, ahead of clubmate Joel Andrews (2,678), Jabari Fox of Point Fortin (2,644), Malachi Lam of Point Fortin (2,473), Shervone Antoine of Toco (2,469), Timothy Frederick of Point Fortin (2,381), Tyrese James of Toco (2,265), Stephon Caesar of Point Fortin (2,250), Ryan Joseph of Toco (2,237) and Kegel Chance of Zenith (2,159).

And, in the Girls Under-13 pentathlon, Safiya John of Zenith topped the field with 2,264 points, while Point Fortin’s Antonia Sealy was next with 2,243 and Neon Trackers’ Shaniece Francois third with 2,201.

Completing the field were Faith Tinto of Toco (2,177), Shawnika Barclay of Neon Trackers (2,115), Okellia Williams of Toco (2,064), Aaliyah Wilson of Toco (2,014), Shannon Daniel of Tobago Falcons (1,934), Atiya Cummings of Point Fortin (1,919) and Crystal Gibbs of St Mary’s Children’s Home (1,915).
