Fastest quarter miler on the US Collegiate circuit

Lendore heads NCAA rankings

Following his 45.00 seconds season opening run at the Alumni Gold meet in Louisiana on Saturday, Deon Lendore is now the fastest quarter miler on the US Collegiate circuit. The Texas A&M University second year is ahead of James Harris (Florida State) who clocked 45.25 on Thursday.

Lendore also was the top 400m on the indoor circuit with his 45.15 clocking in February. Another T&T quarter miler, Sparkle McKnight (Arkansas), is ahead in the women’s 400m with her World Championships qualifying time of 52.17 in winning the Sun Angel one lap title in Arizona on April 5. McKnight is also eighth in the 400m hurdles with a pb run of 56.62 on March 23.

Wayne Davis is sixth in the men’s 110m hurdles with his 13.54 established when winning at the Baldo Castillo Invitational in Arizona on March 15 while Kai Selvon, Shermund Allsop, Jamol James, Durel Busby and Deborah John are in the top 50 their respective events.

Selvon (Auburn) lies at 13th in the women’s 200m with her wind aided clocking of 23.12 (+3.1) while Allsop (LSU) is at 37th in the men’s 100m standing with 10.39 (+2.3) ahead of James (Tennessee) at 49th (10.43/+2.8). Busby sits at 46th on the men’s 110m hurdles with his 14.04 (+3.3) posting set in finishing sixth at the Mc Sac Relays in California on the weekend. John (North Dakota State) stands at 41st in the women’s 100m hurdles with her 13.53(+2.1), also achieved at the Mt Sac Relays where she finished seventh.

In results, Janiel Bellille sped to victory in the women’s 400m hurdles at the Michael Johnson/Dr. Pepper Classic in Waco Texas on the weekend. The 2008 World Junior silver medallist got the line in 59.42. Kernesha Spann (Western Texas) was fourth in the 400m hurdles in 1:01.29. Baylor’ Danielle Davis finished 16th in the long jump (5.40) while Shun-Shauna Mason helped South Plains to third in the women’s 4x100m (45.30). Commonwealth Games silver medallist Ayanna Alexander was third in the women’s triple jump at the Mt. Sac Relay with a second round leap of 13.66. Chris Hercules took sixth spot in the men’s triple jump (15.77) while Geronne Black (Portland State) secured sixth place in the women’s 100m (11.58/+1.2). Marcus Duncan was 13th in the men’s 100m (10.59) while Magonolia Howell(Threshold Athletics) was 17th overall in the 400m (55.21).

At the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kansas, Dan-Niel Telesford grabbed third spot in the me’s 200m in 21.76 and returned to help his school’s 4x400m team to seventh (3:17.18). Aleeshs Barber missed out of a top three finish in the women’s 100m hurdles taking fourth in 13.34. Michelle Lee Ahye (women’s 200m-5th-24.35), Delware’s Chelsi Campbell (8th-women’s 400m-58.62, 4th-4x400m finals-3:46.80) and Jessica James of Iowa Central (4x400m heats-4th 3:51.25) also competed.

At the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Alabama, Gabriela Cumberbatch (Auburn) was 14th in the women’s 400m (57.01). The St Joseph Covent-POS returned to help Auburn to takes the runner-up spot in the 4x400m (3:47.13).
