Jones, Nero to defend Point Fortin 10k

RICHARD JONES and Tonya Nero are expected to defend their male and female crowns at the Point Fortin Borough Day 10-kilometre (10k) run today, from 6 am.

According to the organisers, the runners will face the starter’s gun at KTO, by the “Welcome to Point Fortin” sign on the Cap de Ville Road, with the finish line at the Point Fortin Market Square.

There are seven categories in the 10k run - open, Under-20, 20-29, 30-39, 40- 49, 50-59 and 60-plus.

Over $16,000 in cash prizes, plus finishers’ medals, are in store for the top athletes in this morning’s race.

And there will also be a 10k walk, with the top three male and female participants entitled to cash awards.

The Point Fortin Road Runners Club, the Point Fortin Borough Corporation and Atlantic LNG have all rendered assistance towards the venture.
