Keshorn opens with big throw
Keshorn Walcott threw the spear 84.39 metres to win the men’s javelin title. In his first outing since his Olympic triumph in August last year, Walcott was just 19 centimetres short of his 84.58m national record.

Blaise jumps to gold
Kyron Blaise produced a 7.52 metres leap to capture the men's long jump title. Dwaine Herbert (7.24m) and Akeel Edwards (7.09m) finished second and third, respectively.

Borel beats Cuba's Lopez
Cleopatra Borel got the better of her Cuban rival, Yaniuvis Lopez in the women's shot put event. Borel, T&T's best-ever female thrower, produced her winning effort of 17.75 metres in the very first round of the competition. Lopez threw 17.40m to claim silver.

Fernandez grabs gold
Jorge Fernandez gave a classy display in the men's discus, the Cuban thrower striking gold with a 63.04 metres effort. T&T's Quincy Wilson threw 57.17m to secure silver.

Impressive Thomas
Mikel Thomas produced an impressive run in the men's 110 metres hurdles, the T&T athlete winning in 13.46 seconds. Thomas forced Americans Jarrett Eaton (13.82) and Christopher Thomas (13.89) to settle for second and third, respectively.

Taffe tops century
Ayodele Taffe won the keenly contested men's 100m dash, the teenager stopping the clock at 10.56 seconds. Silver went to Moriba Morain, in 10.59.

Stewart dominates
National record holder Akeem Stewart dominated his rivals in the men's shot put. The Tobago Falcons athlete threw the iron ball 18.68 metres for a huge cushion on Carifta Games champion Hezekiel Romeo, the runner-up with a 16.86m effort. Kesean Phillips (15.78m) finished third. Last Sunday, Stewart established a new national record, throwing 19.32 metres at the Alvin Daniel and Point Fortin Games to erase Dave Stoute's 18.91m standard from the books.

Ahye bags century title
A fast-finishing Michelle-Lee Ahye grabbed gold in the women's 100 metres dash in 11.37 seconds. The T&T sprinter finished ahead of American Muna Lee (11.44) and Ghanaian Flings Owusu-Agyapong (11.55).

Cedenio golden
Carifta Games champion Machel Cedenio was the class of the men's 400 metres field, the Simplex quartermiler winning in 45.99 seconds, from American Marcus Boyd (46.08). Jereem Richards bagged bronze in a personal best 46.20.

Williams wins one-lap
Domonique Williams emerged victorious in the women's 400 metres event, the Trinidad and Tobago runner finishing strong to force Jamaica's Stacey-Anne Smith into second spot. Smith came off the final turn in front, but the lead was not big enough, Williams reeling her in near the end of the race to win in 53.89 seconds. Smith clocked 54.03 to pick up silver, while bronze went to Dana Massiah in 54.13.

London tops 800 field
Mark London triumphed in the men's 800 metres, the 2013 Carifta Games double gold medallist getting home in 1:53.06. Cliffton Sylvester finished second in 1:54.13, while third spot went to George Smith (1:54.36).

First title to Francis
Ishawn Francis captured the first title, the Burnley athlete whipping her rivals in the women's 800 metres event. Francis returned a time of two minutes, 21.22 seconds to beat Elia Nero (2:25.95) and Reniece Joseph (2:32.24) into second and third, respectively.

Welcome to our live coverage of the inaugural TnT Elite Twilight Games, here at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain. The main event today is the men's javelin, Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott opening his 2013 campaign in front of his adoring home fans.
