Keshorn Walcott continues his 2013 campaign at the IAAF Shanghai Diamond League meet, in China, tomorrow.

The reigning Olympic men’s javelin champion will bid to improve on his performance at the Doha Diamond League in Qatar, last week Friday. He finished sixth in Doha with a 79.79 metres throw.

In Shanghai, Walcott will face the men who secured the top three spots in Doha—Czech Republic’s Vitezslav Vesely (85.09m), Finland’s Tero Pitkamaki (82.18m), and Norway’s double Olympic champion Andreas Thorkildsen (81.51m).

In his season-opener, at the inaugural TnT Elite Twilight Games on May 3, Walcott thrilled his home fans at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, the Trinidad and Tobago field athlete earning gold with a big 84.39m throw.

T&T quartermiler Lalonde Gordon will also be on show at the Shanghai Diamond League meet. He tackles Grenada’s Kirani James in an Olympic rematch.

At the 2012 London Games, James grabbed gold, beating Dominican Republic’s Luguelin Santos and Gordon into second and third, respectively.

All three Olympic medallists will face the starter in Shanghai.

And adding to an already high-quality field is 2008 Olympic 400m champion, LaShawn Merritt, of the United States.

Today’s one-lap event in Shanghai is Gordon’s first individual outdoor 400m outing this year. During the indoor season, he produced a 46.73 seconds clocking.

James is at the top of the 2013 would outdoor performance list at 44.72 seconds, while Santos is second with a 44.74 run.

Cleopatra Borel is expected to fly the T&T flag in the Shanghai Diamond League women’s shot put event. Her best throw this season is 17.75m.
