Bronze medal for Bledman at Grand Prix

TRINIDAD and Tobago Olympic silver and bronze medallist Keston Bledman started the season with a good finish, placing third in the IAAF Diamond League Adidas Grand Prix at the Icahn Stadium, New York yesterday.

The race was won by American Tyson Gay in a time of 10.02 seconds. He was followed by fellow American Ryan Bailey in 10.15 while the TT sprinter finished in a time of 10.16. This was an improvement from his semifinal run where he clocked 10.28 seconds while placing third. It was not a good start to the season for double Olympic silver medallist Richard Thompson as he finished last in his semi-final in a time of 10.68.

Meanwhile national 400m Hurdles champions Jehue Gordon finished in a disappointing seventh in a time of 49.76 seconds. The race was won by American Michael Tinsley, with Javier Culsom of Puerto Rico placing second and fellow American Johnny Dutch third.
