Thomas wins Hampton men 100m

MIKEL THOMAS won the men “A” 100 metres final on Saturday evening, on the first day of the Hampton International Games at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.

Thomas, representing Rebirth Club, crossed the finish line in a slow 10.32 seconds, while Ayodele Taffe of Abilene Wildcats was second in 10.36 and Ashron Sobers of Zenith was a distant third in 10.63.

Completing the field were Chavaughn Walsh of Antigua/Barbuda (10.69), LeSean Noel of UTT Fast Track (10.77), Alan Alais of Guyana (10.79) and Jeffrey Vanan of Suriname (10.89).

In the men’s “B” 100m final, Moriba Morain of Simplex stopped the clock at 10.41 seconds, with Concorde’s Quinn Lee Ralph well adrift in second place in 10.59.

Joel Dillon of Simplex was third in 10.61, followed by Abiola Glasgow of Defence Force (10.76), Jesse Berkley of Simplex (10.97) and Javon Williams of Concorde (11.18).

Kamaria Durant of Simplex took gold in the women 100m with a time of 11.64, with former national sprint ace Ayanna Hutchinson of Concorde second in 11.67 and Barbados’ Shakera Reece third in 11.78.

There were two other finishers from the Concorde Club - Sasha Springer was fourth in 12.05 and Donelle Stafford sixth in 12.58. Ebony Nelson of Guyana placed fifth in 12.45.

The Games were due to conclude last evening.
