Walcott, Borel shine at NAAA 2014 Awards

Olympic javelin gold medallist Keshorn Walcott and shot putter Cleopatra Borel continued to rake in awards for their 2014 exploits with the duo being named Senior Athletes of the Year on Saturday at the National Association of Athletics Administration (NAAA) Awards held at Radisson Hotel, Port-of-Spain.

Both recently copped the Sportsman and Sports woman of the Year awards last week at the TT Olympic end of year ceremony.

Walcott, who set a new national record in 2014, earned silver at the Commonwealth Games, while Borel was also a silver medallist at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

She won gold as well at the CAC Games in Veracruz, Mexico.

Unsurprisingly, quarter-miler Machel Cedenio, the World 400m Jr champion, was named Junior Athlete of the Year (Male).

In the female equivalent, shot putter Portious Warren, a gold medallist at CAC, took the award.

Meanwhile, veteran Curtis Cox was recognised for his excellent 2015 season by taking the trophy for Most Outstanding Road Runner (Male) while Tonya Nero claimed the female equivalent.

George Smith and Samantha Shukla won Most Outstanding Cross Country Runner Male and Female respectively.
