Newsday :: 30.01.2015

TOP TRINIDAD and Tobago sprinter Michelle-Lee Ahye will begin her 2015 season on February 7, at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, United States.

Ahye, one of the world’s most dominant female sprinters in 2014 before injury cut short her season, is also slated to compete in a number of meets in February.

A week after she opens her season (February 14), Ahye is expected to participate at the Millrose Games in New York, United States, followed by a pair of indoor meets. On February 19, the 22-year-old will feature at the XL-Galan Meet in Stockholm, Sweden. And, two days later, she will be in Birmingham, England for the Sainsbury’s Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix.

With the IAAF World Championships scheduled to take place from August 22-30 in Beijing, China, Ahye will be looking to start the year in fine form, ahead of the bi-annual global contest.

The 100-metre and 200-metre specialist was in sizzling form heading up to the Commonwealth Games last year, with a number of victories on the European circuit.

But, in July, her season came to an abrupt end when she suffered a hamstring injury at a meet in Lucerne, Switzerland.
