Michelle-Lee Ahye produced a winning run at the XL-Galan IAAF Indoor Permit meet, in Stockholm, Sweden, yesterday. The Trinidad and Tobago track star stopped the clock at 23.37 seconds to emerge victorious in the women’s 200 metres.

The clocking was an indoor best for Ahye, bettering last year’s 23.44 run in Texas, USA.

Seventeen-year-old sprint sensation Irene Ekelund finished second in yesterday’s 200, the Swedish teen getting to the line in 23.55 seconds. Kineke Alexander was forced to settle for third spot, the St Vincent and the Grenadines athlete clocking 23.88. Switzerland’s Lea Sprunger, meanwhile, won the women’s 200m “B” race in 23.76 seconds, ahead of British Virgin Islands athlete Chantel Malone (24.49).

On Saturday, at the Millrose Games in New York, USA, Ahye finished second in the 60m dash in 7.11 seconds—just one-hundredth of a second outside her 7.10 T&T record. With the 7.11 run, the 22-year-old Carenage sprinter is third on the 2015 world indoor performance list.

Wayne Davis II finished third in yesterday’s XL-Galan men’s 60m hurdles “B” race and eighth overall in the event. The T&T athlete’s 7.92 seconds run was more than three-tenths of a second slower than the 7.59 national record he had established in Arkansas, USA in 2013.

Cuba finished one-two in the “A” race, Orlando Ortega clocking 7.52 seconds to get the better of Dayron Robles—the runner-up in 7.56. American David Oliver was third in 7.66. The “B” race winner, American Kevin Craddock secured fourth spot overall in 7.69 seconds, while his second-placed countryman, Spencer Adams was fifth fastest on the day with a 7.75 run.
