Penn Relay silvers for Lendore…bronze for Skinner

Olympic bronze medallist Deon Lendore anchored Texas A&M University to silver medals in the College Men’s 4x100m and 4X400m relays on the final day of action at this year’s Penn Relays at the Franklyn Field, Pennsylvania, USA on Saturday.

In the sprint relay finals, Lendore’s Texas A&M clocked 39.56 to finished behind Jamaica’s UTech 39.27. Texas A&M qualified for the finals finishing 4th in the heats in 40.37. Haysean Cowie-Clarke and his Coppin State team was 22nd (41.81) with University of Trinidad and Tobago (Michael Sealey, Le Sea Noel, Adisa Sorillo, Josh Hamilton) in 35th in 42.50. Coppin State missed out on a medal in the College Men’s 4x100m IC4A division taking the fourth spot in 41.29 seconds.

In the 4x400m finals Lendore’s Texas A&M team again came up short clocking 3:04.09 despite a 44.87 last leg split by Lendore. In the heats Texas A&M was second (3:08.81). UTT (Adisa Sorillo, Kyle Stanley, Ryan Benjamin, St Luke Sprinter) was 49th 3:35.28. Lendore was hoping a second gold in the mile relay following Texas A&M victory in 2013. UTT was well represented finishing 26th in the Men’s 4x200m heats and 33rd in the Sprint Medley heats. UTT’s ladies 4x100m team was 4th in the women’s 4x100m and 37th in the 4x200m.

Terrance Skinner secured bronze in the Masters men’s 100m (65 and older) dash in 13.87. Wayne Marcano was fifth in the 55 and older race in 13.10. Deandra Daniel (Coppin State) finished in sixth in the College Women’s high jump with a clearance of 1.74. St. Lucian Jeanelle Scheper (South Carolina) leapt to gold (1.86) with Dominica’s Thea La Fond (Maryland) in fifth (1.78)
