Kyle Greaux had things all his own way in the Abilene Wildcats Track Classic men's 400 metres event, at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, yesterday.

Greaux, a member of the Abilene Wildcats Athletic Club, gave the hometown supporters good reason to cheer, motoring to victory in 47.58 seconds. Kirdell McIntosh finished a distant second in 50.06, while third spot went to Wynston LaCroix (50.75). The women's 400m was also a race against the clock, Alena Brooks stamping her class on proceedings with a 54.56 seconds golden run.

Running in section two in the timed final, Brooks came off the final bend with a commanding lead. The Memphis Pioneers athlete, however, did not come off the gas pedal, battling hard on the home straight to win easily.

Danielle David was first in section one and second overall in 56.87 seconds. And Mauricia Prieto, who finished second to Brooks in section two with a 57.01 run, was third fastest overall.

It was all about Kamaria Durant in the women's 100m final. She took an early lead, and was never challenged for the title, winning in 11.48 seconds, from Lisa Wickham (11.90) and Onika Murray (12.08).

Durant's Simplex teammate, Moriba Morain had to dig deep for his victory in the men's 100m dash. He won in 10.55 seconds, getting home just ahead of Lesean Noel (10.56). Bronze was bagged by Ian Thomas (10.64).

Zenith Tobago sprinter, Akanni Hislop proved to be in a class of his own in the boys' under-18 100m. The 2015 Carifta Games under-18 200m champion stopped the clock at 10.59 seconds-his second best 100m time-to strike gold at the Gomes Stadium. The real race was the battle for silver, between Jalen Purcell and Jerod Elcock. It was Purcell who secured the runner-up spot, getting home in 11.05 seconds to finish just ahead of Elcock (11.07).

Defence Force half-miler Cliffton Sylvester returned a time of one minute, 54.51 seconds to take the men's 800m title. And Dawnel Collymore topped the women's 800m field, the Memphis Pioneers runner completing her two laps of the track in 2:15.54.
