CariFin Cross Country runs off today

Trinidad Guardian :: 07.06.2015

The CariFin Games is onto its final stage as the Cross Country and Family Day takes place at the Sevilla Golf Course, Couva, from 10 am—6 pm, today. The day starts off with novelty events as participants are encouraged to display team work and mental agility with events such as sack relay, tug-o-war and maths relay.

The Cross Country race commences at 4.15 pm, promoting health, fitness and dexterity as members of the various financial institutions showcase their vim, vigour and tenacity as they partake in this race with their peers.

Men are required to do three laps around the 2.2km Sevilla Golf Course, while women must complete two laps of the course. Medals and cash prizes will be presented to the top ten finishers and a challenge trophy and replica will be awarded to the overall winner. Ryan O’Neil (Guardian Group), Susan Russell (RBC) and Jilleta Landeau (Guardian) are some of the front runners today.

A dance off segment is next on the activity filled programme as two couples from each institution are invited to participate to the combination of different genres of music. The highly anticipated Miss CariFin competition will also take place. In this event, a woman from each institution possessing the foundation values of CariFin - fun, fitness and friendship, persuades the judging panel that she is worthy of the fitness title.

The nine teams participating in CariFin Games this year are First Citizens, Grace Kennedy, Guardian Group, IBL Bank, Republic Bank, RBC, Sagicor, Scotiabank and Unit Trust Corporation.
