Nero tops OWTU 20K

Tonya Nero emerged victorious among the women in the OWTU 20K Run, held in Fyzabad last Friday, Labour Day.

The Trinidad and Tobago runner completed the course in one hour, 20 minutes, 51 seconds.

Nero was ninth overall, beating many men to the finish line. Guadeloupe's Christina Laurent finished second in the women's race in 1:22:34, while third spot went to her twin sister, Christelle Laurent (1:26:22).

Kenya's Kenneth Rotich was dominant in the men's race, winning in 1:05:59. Cuban Liva Luque (1:08:17) and Guyana's Kelvin Johnson (1:11:40) were second and third, respectively. Curtis Cox was the first T&T finisher, the veteran runner securing fourth spot in 1:15:00.

Ricardo Lova triumphed in the OWTU 5K in 17 minutes, 17 seconds, while the women's title went to Aaliyah Mitchell in 19:27.

Bryan Francis returned a time of two hours, four minutes, 36 seconds to strike gold in the OWTU 20K Walk. And Deborah Davis won the women's title in 2:27:11.
