Nero retains Caricom 10K title

Trinidad and Tobago distance runner Tonya Nero and Guyanese Cleveland Forde retained their female and male titles, respectively, in the 2015 edition of the Caricom 10K, in Barbados, on Sunday.

Forde followed up his 2014 win with victory in a close and exciting race among the top males. He clocked 33 minutes, 11 seconds to edge out Jamaican Kirk Browne (33:15) and six-time winner of the event, Pamenos Ballantyne (33:19) of St Vincent and the Grenadines. T&T’s Curtis Cox finished fifth.

Nero led the female runners home in 37:06, ahead of Vincentian Linda McDowald (39:40) and Guyana’s Andrea Foster (42:13).
