Hutchinson bolts to World Masters gold

Ayanna Hutchinson captured the women’s 35-39 100 metres title at the World Masters Athletics Championships, in Lyon, France, on Friday.

Running into a 2.2 metres per second headwind in the final, Hutchinson clocked 12.30 seconds. Trinidad and Tobago finished one-two in the event, Sasha Springer picking up silver in 12.49. Another T&T sprinter, Donelle Stafford got to the line in 13.01 to finish sixth.

Albert St Louis seized silver in the men’s 40-44 100m dash in 11,29 seconds. His T&T teammate, Shane Dyer was seventh in 11.50.

Hutchinson’s gold medal was the second for T&T at the global meet, following Marsha Mark-Baird’s 40-44 women’s heptathlon triumph on Wednesday. To date, T&T have earned two gold medals and two silver.
